27 days and counting!

Buying a home is a lot of work! After looking at 26+ homes in two weeks, Chris and I decided to put an offer in on a cute, yellow house in Chantilly. "Where is Chantilly?" you may be asking. Well, it's really far away! We originally said we were only looking inside the Beltway. After seeing the small, old homes that our money could buy inside the Beltway we decided to expand our search. Imagine our surprise when we realized we really liked a house all the way out in Chantilly!

We put our offer in on a Friday afternoon. I got a call from our Realtor Saturday around 1 o'clock letting me know that she "couldn't believe it" but the seller accepted our initial offer ($14k less than listing price with $5k in closing costs). I was in shock! You hear all these stories about the miserable time people have trying to buy a home: bidding wars, slow responses, people pulling their house off the market. But nope, not for us, easy-peasy!

We close on the 30th of September and then the real fun begins! We have to replace the pipes, paint, put down new floor throughout the house, redo the kitchen, and maybe (money willing) redo the 2.5 bathrooms. It's going to be a lot of work, time, and money but I am super excited!

Now if only planning a wedding was as easy as buying a house!

Champagne, yum!

Had WAY too much food and champagne at Suz's book swap brunch yesterday. But everything was so tasty! Got some really cute books too. I love the "Don'ts For Wives" from 1913. So cute!

Chris and I went for a walk last evening and ran a little. I'm happy to feel the muscles in my legs. They don't hurt but I can feel them.

I might have to do a little shopping tonight since I have a coupon that will expire today. If no shopping then I need to wash clothes. I'm going to try to get a workout in today.

Stalemate

After joining WW in January 2008, I lost over 35 lbs. I wish I could say I have successfully kept it off but that is not the case. I have; however, kept about 25 lbs off. A gain of 10 lbs is difficult to deal with. Near Christmas 2008 I stopped going to meetings and stopped weighing in... big mistake!

Time to get back on track! Since Chris and I are planning our wedding for April 2010 and since Amanda is letting me use her wedding dress (but I could really use to lose 10 lbs to get it all the way zipped without altering it) I need to get on the ball! I will definitely go to WW this week even if it is only to weigh in.

Onto fun things: I just finished reading Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster and it was lovely. Couldn't put it down! Now onto There's a (Slight) Chance I Might be Going to Hell by Laurie Notaro.
